Mardi Gras is holiday that is celebrated by spending time with family and friends, sitting around the dinner table discussing warm feelings, sharing your grandmothers homemade pies and most importantly doing this all while you are completely hammered.
In Brooklyn this year- specifically Williamsburg- there was a celebration in the streets. L Magazine put on a burlesque themed parade down the streets of Williamsburg ending at Brooklyn Bowl where Wavves put on a free show.
Due to the snow and the freaking cold weather most of our staffers skipped the parade and headed straight to the free Wavves show. It was sponsored by Southern Comfort and Hurricanes were only $3...
If you're like me, you might have been hoping to here that Nathan was on hallucegens, yelling on stage while playing random chords in order to catch a right song he was meaning to play, all while his drummer was pouring a beer down his head in a fit of rage, like what happened not too long ago at the 2009 Barcelona Primavera Sound Festival. But that didn't happen. After a few sound checks, more amp on the guitar and jokes about Gucci the show was nothing short of fun. All in all, Wavves sounds pretty much like what you hear on the album. It was fun rock, the kind you couldn't help but shake your shoulders and feet to.
